The survey made by Anna Kakhiani for the artistic research about uncertainties in empathy, language patterns (recognizable phrases, stable expressions) and emotional and physical reactions to them.

Responses are accepted in Ukrainian and English.

БЛОК 1: Ситуації в яких ви потребували емпатії / BOX 1: Situations in which you needed empathy

У всіх бували ситуації, маленькі і не дуже, коли ми потребували емпатії. Елементарної чи більш глибокого співпереживання, підтримки чи простого розуміння. Спектр може бути дуже великим. Я не прошу вас повертатись подумки до найскладніших ситуацій, проте згадати перші декілька випадків які спадають на думку і фрази які були сказані вам влучно або ж зовсім не доречно, фрази підтримки які спрацювали, або мали б спрацювати, а подіяли абсолютно навпаки. We have all had situations, easier or heavier, when we needed empathy. Basic or deeper empathy, support or simple understanding. The spectrum can be very wide. I am not asking you to go back in your mind to the most difficult situations, but to recall the first few cases that come to mind and the phrases that were said to you, either aptly or inappropriately, phrases of support that worked or should have worked, but did the opposite.

БЛОК 2: Ситуації в яких від вас очікувалась емпатія / BOX 2: Situations in which you were expected to be empathetic

У цьому блоці я прошу вас згадати ситуації які перші спадають на думку у яких ви були у ролі людині якій потрібно було підбирати слова підтримки / лишатися чуйним/ підбадьорити/ проявити емпатію/ не сказати лишнього/ бути коректним/ і так далі. Згадайте які фрази ви використовували, чи було вам складно їх підібрати, або ж навпаки. Як думаєте, чи були вони доречні? Як ви себе почували? In this block, I ask you to think about the situations that come to mind first, in which you were in the role of a person who needed to find words of support/stay sensitive/encourage/show empathy/not say too much/be correct/etc. Think back to the phrases you used, whether you found them difficult to choose or vice versa. Do you think they were appropriate? How did they make you feel?

ОСТАННІЙ БЛОК ЗАПИТАНЬ/ THE LAST BOX OF QUESTIONS

Будь ласка, поділіться впізнаваними підбадьорюючими фразами які ви тільки зможете згадати. Вони не обовязково мають стосуватись вашого особистого досвіду. Часто ми можемо навіть зустрічати такі вислови в соц мережах, у діалозі з фільму, на футболках, на постерах, в рамках на туалетних дверях забігайлівки тощо. Please share as many recognisable encouraging phrases as you can remember. They do not necessarily have to relate to your personal experience. Often we can even find such phrases on social media, in the film's dialogs, on T-shirts, on posters, in frames on the toilet door of a cafe, etc. __________________ Підбадьорюючі фрази, які викликають у вас здебільшого НЕПРИЄМНІ відчуття.
